Over the years, as I have participated in our class reunions, I have gotten to know and keep up with the life stories of our classmates. So many are truly awe-inspiring in special, quiet ways. I’ve seen classmates come to grips with terrible problems and overcome them. And they have done so with incredible grace and courage and have sacrificed for and contributed so much to their families and society. I am very proud to have been a member of St. Mary¹s High School Class of 1958.
I still find it hard to get my head around how quickly 50 golden years have slipped by. After an early retirement 12 years ago, Sandy and I moved to Kalamazoo. Both of my daughters, Lynn and Lisa, live nearby, and we spend a lot of family time together. We perform a lot of family service. That means I get to spend time with my two grandchildren. Nothing fancy, just sharing a donut at Meijer¹s, telling stories, challenging them with little tasks, and encouraging them to grow and to discover, but most of all, helping them find the truth within themselves. And if they master that technique, well, that will be my legacy.
If you’re ever in the area, please don¹t hesitate to give me a call. Maybe we can get together and partake in an adult beverage (or two) and share some life stories.

I have been married for 33 years and have four children, two boys and two girls. Eight grand children and eight great grand children complete my family. I worked at Jackson Truck Service for 47 years as a master diesel mechanic. My greatest thrill was riding in a cup series stock car at MIS at over 180 mph and riding in an 800 hp sprint car at a dirt track outside Pittsburg PA. I am a cancer survivor (so far) and hope to see my newest grand daughter, Madison Rose Buckles, two years old graduate from high school.

Ken and I celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary in May. We were retired, but now we are both back working part-time. We are kept very busy with family. Our daughter, Susie, has three daughters 17, 15, and 13. Our son, Jim, has two boys four and ten months. Our daughter, Ann, has a girl three and a son fifteen months. All of them are living in the Jackson area. Our son, Tim, lost his battle with cancer on October 26, 1999.

I’m staying quite busy as principal of an elementary charter school. This is my 45th year in this business, and I can’t seem to find a reason to say that’s enough. I love what I do. My husband, Bernard, is also still working. He is a home inspector and public adjustor. My daughter and granddaughter moved in July of this year to Lone Tree, Colorado. I have already been out there to visit. Knowing that I could visit them anytime, if I was not working, does make retirement sound a little more inviting. We’ll see. When we are not working, Bernard and I do enjoy boating or going for rides on his Moto Guzzi. We are thankful that God has given us good health to still be able to get out and enjoy doing things together.

I continue to live in Tiffin, Ohio, a small community south of Toledo. In July of last year Charlie’s death left a major void in my life. Since then much of my free time is spent as a volunteer at St. Francis Home and the Catholic Schools that my grandchildren attend. My three children reside in Ohio giving us the opportunity to spend family time together.
It doesn’t seem possible that it has been 50 years but can’t wait to see everyone! Thanks to the committee for their effort!

We live on the river and are enjoying retirement. Phil will never stop working hard but with the water activities we also play hard. I still scrapbook (never ending) and in my old age have discovered the many pleasures from reading books. Dean Koontz, Christian writer, Ted Dekker, and Robert Lundum are my favorites. I miss my involvement in the state disaster and emergency issues but this old body can’t keep anymore.

Todd Coffelt and I immigrated to Portland, OR in 1960, and I never left although Todd and I divorced in 1980. I raised three daughters here, Nancy, Wendy and Mary; and they in turn have raised their families here. Jeremy is now attending Kenyon College, and Hannah and Montana are juniors in high school and Madison is in the sixth grade. Blessed is a word that is sometimes overused but not in my case.
I retired in June 2007 after 37 years as an imaging technologist and the last few years as an administrative assistant in health care. My partner, Ann, and I bought a wonderfully manageable 21 foot self contained motor home and enjoy visiting the great camp grounds at the coast and in the mountains of this beautiful state. I have no noble aspirations for my retirement time except to enjoy the days doing what I love with those I love. Ann and I do love birding, a great hobby that we spend more and more time doing. Life is good!

After graduation I attended JCC. In November of 1960 I joined the Navy and sailed the high seas for 3½ years. In September of 1964 I returned to JCC where I met my wife of 43 years, Jeanne Fitzgerald. In October of 1965 we wed. We have three wonderful children and four grandchildren. In 1967 I enrolled in an electrical apprenticeship and spent 36 years in that field. In 1978 Jeanne and I purchased Hankerd Hills Golf Course in Pleasant Lake, Michigan. At that time it was a nine-hole resort course. Throughout the past 30 years we have expanded the business to 27 holes with a large banquet and restaurant facility. We look forward to catching up with everyone at our 50th class reunion.

I took early retirement from National City Bank in 2000. I retired as the Area President for the Canton, Ohio/Stark county areas. I oversaw 10 branches with assets approximating $800 million. During my career I also administered; Corporate Banking, Private banking and Small Business Lending. I served as a Director on several Boards including: the Canton Regional Chamber of Commerce, The Canton Symphony, The Canton Urban League and The Character Counts Committee. Since my retirement I have been free-lancing as a banking specialist with a couple of Management Consulting Firms.
My wife, Sandy, and I will be married for 29 years this July. We have two children, Stacy (Registered Nurse/Director of Women’s Health) and Ken Jr. who is a Senior Loan Analyst with Bank of America. We have three beautiful grandchildren: Kendal, Kennedy, and Brooke, all girls!

During the past 50 years, I have gotten two BS degrees (Psychology and Mathematics). I have lived in Warren, MI; Rockville, CT; Manchester, CT and Jupiter, FL (32 years). I taught CCP for 22 years, raised three children and three dogs. Besides CCD, I’ve been involved in the CCW and a bereavement group in church.
I have also been a bookkeeper and a licensed optician. Since retirement, my husband and I have spent the summers traveling the northern states and Canada.
Here in Florida, I volunteer at the Jupiter Medical Center and also spend time sewing and embroidering quilts, crocheting and knitting and playing the accordion for my own enjoyment and at the hospital’s nursing home.
What other time I have is spent enjoying my three grandchildren and my youngest daughter’s band students—I am a perpetual band parent!

I have been retired from Lumen Christi Catholic High School for nine years; however, I taught part-time for Baker College for eight of those years. Teaching in a Catholic High School was an early goal of mine. Although my heart was always in the high school classroom, I had from early in my career wanted to experience teaching adults. Baker College was the perfect fit, and I felt fortunate to have that opportunity. This past school year, I subbed a little at Lumen, but other than that was completely retired.
Ernie and I live in Spring Arbor Township on a beautiful rural road. We have wonderful neighbors and enjoy our home with our 16 year old English Cocker Spaniel, Brandy Ruth Freckles. We like to travel and have done so extensively throughout the U.S., Europe, the former Soviet Union, China, and northern Africa. I love to read, walk, and do crosstitch and volunteer at Queen's church and Lumen Christi. Ernie and I will celebrate our 47th anniversary this September. Life has been good.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone and hearing what all of my classmates have been doing.

Dennis and Nancy Lodise had been married almost 47 years when Nancy passed away from cancer in January of 2008. They had four children and ten grandchildren. The four children all have masters’ degrees. Lisa teaches Geology at Monroe Community College; Laura is a Nurse Practitioner in Grand Rapids; Laura has her own consulting business, and Dennis is Manager of the Electrical Department at Harley Davidson in Milwaukee. All the grandkids seem to excel in the classroom as well as in athletics. Dennis gives the credit to his beloved wife for his children's success and happy marriages. She is missed dearly by family and all her knew her.
Dennis retired after 30 years in the Bonding Industry and joined Nancy in the Shaklee Business in which Dennis is still active. Dennis enjoys his Harley, hunting, and fishing, but especially his grandchildren. Dennis still lives at his Round Lake home and would enjoy classmates visiting him when in the area.
Because of a prior commitment to my family I will not be able to attend the 50th Reunion and will miss seeing all of you.

Since the last time we’ve seen everybody, TRAVEL has become a meaningful part of our lives. Somebody once said that travel “is about curiosity leading us to places we don’t know, just to have the knowledge of what lies beyond, a knowledge we keep for the rest of our lives.” In the last five years we have plunged into the jungles of Mexico and Guatemala exploring the mysteries of the Mayan cultures, [rekindling Ron’s love of archeology] dusted off rare objects in the lava-covered city of Pompeii, crawled under the dome of St Peters five stories beneath the high altar to see the bones of Peter, the first pope; attempted to blow and mold glass in Murano Venice, fumbled around with French language in Quebec City, climbed to the heights of Glacier Point in Yosemite and tasted the best wines in Santa Barbara and Napa following in the footsteps of the movie “Sideways” plus enjoyed several trips to College Station Texas [the home of Texas A&M] where our daughter Beth and several nieces and nephews studied and worked.
After 38 years in plastics and packaging for Recruiters International, Ron wishes he could retire but guess it’s not yet to be. Although we spend most of the year at our home in Florida, we enjoy the summers in Northern Michigan, which gives us a chance to see many of our old classmates and friends. Ron and Joanie have been married 34 years. Our only daughter, Beth, is still single, so there are no grand kids to report, but maybe by our 55th reunion we’ll have good news. So many of you have been grandparents for several years, but we got a late start.
But there were fond memories of people too. Ron’s mother and dad, Madge and Joe died at the same time at Christmas 2005 after spending many years at Vista Grande in Jackson. Not a day goes by that we don’t think about them and miss them. Father Bernie Reilly presided over a “double casket” funeral Mass on New Years of 2006. Thanks to so many classmates who attended the funeral.
After the last reunion Ron and Joanie enjoyed a visit from Jean Dotterweich at our home in Northern Michigan and really got to know her better. We laughed about the “pencil point” still embedded in Ron’s left hand during a fight in Mr. Gezich’s chemistry class in 10th grade. Sadly we heard later about her passing.
Joanie continues her love of “crossword puzzles” reading and her membership at “Curves” and trying to keep Ron “organized” which is a full time job while daughter Beth continues her service to the elderly and developing her music talents with the church choirs and civic bands.
Finally, Ron continues to be consumed with Salmon fishing in the late summer, averaging 60 fish a season. However bad luck occurred in 2007 when Ron Parzych and son-in-laws came to fish. As they went home almost empty handed. They really "skunked" up the boat.

Vickie started working shortly after I retired (surprise) and is now a manager in one of the county libraries. Our son, Patrick, has two children (Wyatt 4 and Riley, a girl, 2) and lives in the area. After my late wife, Kay, (married for 37½ years) died in January 2004 from multiple myloma (a rare type of cancer) I remarried on December 30, 2006 to Phyllis who is from the Adrian area.
I retired from teaching in 1992 after 28 years. I kept coaching basketball (total of 35 years) until 1996. Since then I am living in the Vegas area in the winter and return to Adrian for the warm months. I have three children (two boys and a girl) and six grandchildren (four boys and two girls). They live in the Denver, Vegas, and Los Angeles areas and are all doing great.
I have been running high school basketball team camps in Adrian for 24 years. Web site is www.adriantc.com
Besides the three g's (golfing, gambling, and goofing off any time I want) I stay busy with the camps and running a golf tournament for my late wife to raise money for research for a cure of Multiple Myeloma. If anybody is interested in playing or would like any other information just let me know.

We have six grandchildren ages 19, 7, 7, 6, 3 and 2. In April 2007 we went to China with our daughter who adopted a 13-month old girl, our sixth grandchild. Tony and I have done some traveling since retiring. Cruises to the Caribbean and traveling to Florida in the winter are our favorite destinations. My hobbies are making beaded jewelry, playing cards and golfing. It sure doesn’t seem like it’s been 50 years since we graduated high school. Seems like the older I get, the faster time flies.

Ron and I have been married for 46 years and have been blessed with two daughters, Cheryl and Susan, and a son, Michael. We lost our son in 2000 at the age of 31 and we miss him very much.
The girls have given us five grandchildren and we love and enjoy all of them. They are just growing up too fast with two already in high school. Fortunately, they live in Michigan now but our little Maddy calls me the far-away grandma and that makes me sad. I'd love to have them in Jackson.
Ron retired from Consumers Energy after 35 years. I was a stay-at-home mom for many years but did return to work at Jackson Community College and retired after 20 years. We both enjoy our families and friends, and traveling to fun places. Ron is still playing racquetball, although his body is complaining lately, and he enjoys fishing, golf and cheering the Spartans in football and basketball. I enjoy volunteering in the community, spending time with our families and lunching with friends. My mom is 94 years old and I visit with her often.
We have both enjoyed working over the years with a great reunion committee and we are looking forward to the 50th celebration and seeing our classmates again.

How to write a paragraph when the last fifty years could create a book? Why not share thoughts about favorite subjects: like a book, poem, hobby, joke, music, sport, movie, vacation, job, volunteer experience, family member, friend, faith, and last but not least a dream. This list could be very long but there goes the paragraph. Please feel free to add to this short list. Let's write a book!
I would love to hear about your favorites at the reunion or at a later date via letter, carrier pigeon and if all goes as planned by email.
Looking forward to seeing you or hearing from you in the future. Email is always great for the 5:00 AM crew.

We moved in September 2005. We originally planned to retire just North of Tucumcari, NM on Ute Lake where we purchased lots many years ago. “Hurricane Charlie” took an investment home that we had on a canal in Port Charlotte, FL on Friday the 13th. August 2005 we decided to build a new house there instead. (Capital gains reasons). We are having so much fun that we may stay here rather than go to the more desolate NM Lake. (We dread the rigors of dealing with a contractor again also). We spend summers at our “Love Shack” in Ossineke, MI (10 miles south of Alpena). We inherited dozens of “instant friends” from the Albany, NY area who were friends and relatives of a New Yorker work associate that we met in Juarez.
